About Last Night (Week)
This past week was a busy one despite the holiday. No such thing as a day off when working on a startup. Monday was in the weeds with data cleaning and setup.
Tuesday met up with Jack Benedict who I previously mentioned 2 weeks ago with the following:
Jump raised $20M in a Series A led by Battery Ventures with participation from Citi Ventures. (Shoutout to my good friend Jack Benedict at Citi. He's like a better version of me - same school, same frat and both social chair, same first job, and then he ran way ahead 🙂)
We met up at Puffy’s down in Tribeca (right next to De Niro) and chatted all things expert-based research, vertical AI, and Syracuse.
Wednesday morning had an early breakfast with Mike Conover who was in town to speak at the AI Engineer Summit. Mike is Founder & CEO of Brightwave, one of the most exciting AI companies building knowledge agents for investing workflows. Colder weather (feels like 8 degrees) than when we met last year at a dinner in Miami, but enjoyed some Chilaquiles at Grey Dog Union Square.
Wednesday night was over to Classic Car Club (usually my Friday office) for drinks with old FactSet colleagues Brendan Gay and Connor Gay. Both were recently in people moves, with Brendan recently joining Citadel Securities and Connor recently joining AlphaSense. Our good friend and fellow motorsports fan Ed Lavery also joined us.
Friday had lunch with more old FactSet colleagues, Hendrik Bartel and Derk Osenberg. The two joined via acquisition of their prior company, Truvalue Labs. They recently rejoined with a number of other old team members to launch PostSig, a platform focused on post-signature contract management for data teams (something I wish I had at many points earlier in my career).
Naturally, it was then back to Car Club to catch-up with Jason Taylor. Yes, he’s another former FactSetter but we didn’t overlap. Jason is Head of Data at Automated Data Inc. and was previously at Palantir and Crux Informatics.
