Glacier Network is a new company focused on mitigating risks in emerging data and technology, through a Risk Overlay service designed to help vendors reduce risk and accelerate adoption of their products. Glacier’s mission is to support sustainable growth in technology and data by promoting transparent and responsible risk controls and will support compliance and risk management functions for emerging data vendors and data users of all kinds in the public and private sectors.

The company is founded by Don D’Amico, who most recently served as Managing Director & General Counsel at Neudata. Prior to Neudata, Don was an Attorney at Hughes Hubbard & Reed and Legal Counsel at Davidson Kempner Capital Management.

The new company also established an advisory board of industry experts Stacey Brandenburg (ZwillGen), Danny West (Two Sigma), and Gabriel Vanrenren (entrepreneur).

  • Overture Maps Foundation announced the release of its first open map dataset. The release includes four unique data layers: Places of Interest (POIs), Buildings, Transportation Network, and Administrative Boundaries. The dataset includes data on over 59M places worldwide. More information can be found here.

  • WeatherXM announced they are making public the paper that describes their research: Designing a Global Weather Station Network based on H3 grid, by Dr. Stavros Keppas, Dr. Haris Balis, and Dr. John Pagonis.
