Since last post we’ve seen 4 acquisitions, 11 funding rounds, 13 people moves & promotions, 2 new company launches, 1 market map, 4 roles, and 4 newly added upcoming events.

Special thanks to Ted Merz for sharing a ‘View from The Office’ write-up on our chat last week. See my ’Reverse Uno Card’ write-up on him here.

The Week Ahead

In the week ahead I’ll be Market Data vs Alternative Data Convergence: Best Practices Workshop for Sourcing and Managing Vendors, hosted by Archedata as part of Eagle Alpha Data Week. Unfortunately won’t be able to attend the rest of the week’s great events as I’m headed to Nashville to talk all things data on the Talk Tuah podcast.

Now that I caught your attention, I’ll actually be at the Teamworthy Ventures Founder Forum. Let me know if you are in Nashvegas / Music City!

Deal of the Week

BMLL Technologies | Equities Leaders ...

Highlighting the BMLL deal as I was fortunate to work on the Series B in 2022 led by FactSet and am a huge fan of the team and their offering. The company just announced their latest funding round, $21M led by global market maker Optiver with co-participation from existing investors FactSet, Nasdaq Ventures and IQ Capital, and additional investment from CTC Venture Capital.

BMLL is a leading provider of Level 3, 2, and 1 data and analytics, harmonizing data from over 100 global trading venues. In addition to comprehensive data, the company offers a suite of analytics tools for advance data science and analysis.

The Series B closed while I was with the BMLL team live in Prague at WFIC in 2022. Pro tip: let Will L’Heveder choose the wine (he’s an expert), but don’t let him choose the bar unless you want to end up in an absinthe bar in a 14th century building basement three stories underground with no cell phone service. But seriously, this place was really cool!

Market Map Monday

^the existing market map from the overall landscape map. Let’s build this out into multiple categories of supply chain data and insights!

Let's talk supply chain. The headlines have been dominated with news of port strikes, semiconductor chips, shelf stocking issues, and then that time a ship blocked the Suez Canal. Before you run to Costco to buy all the toilet paper (strike is over FYI), let's see who has data on what is actually going on in the global supply chain. It's Pronounced Data and BattleFin are partnering for category and sector deep dives, starting with Supply Chain. We've done some of the initial mapping but want to hear from the community on who has the data. Shipping, Ports, Air Cargo, Freight, Rail, Last Mile, Warehousing, and any other category, who should be on the map? Add your company in the link here, or reply to this email with anyone you’d recommend.

The map will be presented as an infographic covering the various modes of transportation with a deep dive on a few vendors at BattleFin's upcoming Discovery Day Chicago October 15-16. Join data leaders from top investment firms and corporations including Coca-Cola, P&G, Home Depot, Car ID, Omnicom, Databricks, and more. Complimentary data buyer tickets here!
